None of this back 5 stuff. It only leaves us space for three attacking players. If we set up like we have recently to defend deep and concede possession, we'll lose. They won't be half as wasteful as Sheffield United and I'd rather we lost giving it a go really trying to win, than we lost not giving it a go. The way we surrendered in the cup and at Anfield was woeful.
Fabianski
Coufal Diop Dawson Cresswell
Soucek Rice Fornals
Benrahma Bowen Lingard
I think he'll go back 5 though, so probably Johnson in that side instead of Fornals or Benrahma. We'll be painfull short in attack though.

Scorch we just won 3-0 in that formation? Add Benrahma for a bit more creativity and Antonio bullying Sanchez.....we got a great chance if we turn up same as last night
Spurs are at best on the counter, a back 5 and tough to break down wont suit them

We've played much better against the stronger teams in the division with 3/5 at the back.
Every time we've played 4 at the back against teams that are fighting for Europe, we've tended to become unstuck, but we've been much better against the shitter teams.

I fucking hope to god we beat these cunts Saturday, I've kept relatively quiet about piping up about how well we're doing, my spurs mates however are getting in my face about them beating us and bringing us back down to earth.
I really, REALLY hope we beat them and finish above them cunts.

Antonio to come on to make the difference if needed later on in the game.
Johnson deserves to keep his place in the team. His pace will be needed in this one too.

With only Rice and Soucek in the middle, my concern is that we will get overrun in that area.

We did, but let's be honest, we conceded so much possession and territory to them that if they weren't one of the poorest sides ever to play in the league, they'd absolutely have taken some of those chances they did create, and a decent side will create a lot more than them. We play like that on Sunday and I think we lose. They are on a bad run so the last thing we should do is give them time and space on the ball go get confident and start passing it about.
I didn't mind this backs to the wall and hit them on the break stuff when we were struggling ourselves, but now we're in a great position in the league and clearly we can play a bit. It just feels like a regression, and we should be offering more.
Don't get me wrong, I'll be pleased with the result if we pull it off successfully, but I don't think we should go out in any game now to just keep it tight and not concede, and maybe nick a goal off a rare attack. I think Moyes' historically bad record against top teams is completely related to the way in which he approaches those games. We've seen it twice in the last month.

Back 5 again. I’d play Fredricks to try and double up on son.
Fab Fred Coufal Dawson Cresswell Johnson Rice Soucek Bowen Antonio (if fit) Lingard.

I'd prefer to see us play with wingbacks against these cunts. We always look a bit more solid and they have two cunts up top that are dangerous. We have always got a goal in us so we dont need to worry in that department even if Antonio is still fucked. I'd probably go with something like Rodent's team.

Benrahma or Fornals for Lanzini, only change for me. I can't see Antonio being fit.

Notwithstanding the lack of an alternative genuine striker who would have thought that that we poster’s now have such a varied opinion about a starting eleven.
Having said that due to CB injuries seven choices are automatic.
Fab, Coufal, Diop, Dawson, Cresswell, Rice and Soucek.
Now the choices get complicated because of the options available. So Lingard is a given but what about the other three. If Antonio is available he would be in along with two from Lanzini, Bowen, Fornals, Benny, and if we play a back five Johnson.
Not an easy choice and the key is will Antonio start.

Was talking with Vexed on the Sheff U match thread about this.
Son is really quick and Coufal looks a tad vulnerable with real pace and not getting much protection as was the case against Fulham and to a lesser extent Sheff Utd. Johnson and Cresswell left side of the CBs seem to keep things tighter and that is different to how it was down left with just Cresswell as the LB where we got punished a fair few times
He's not the greatest technician but maybe use Fredericks again ( as per the Villa game ) to help with nullifying the pace of Son primarily but also help against Lucas Moura, Lamela and NDombele who can all move at speed. Obviously Son the biggest threat. Just want to make it very hard for them to get wide and get crosses in as "Oggy the Rock" is not there alongside Dawson. Diop just isnt as strong physically, in the air and putting in those last minute blocks. So stop it getting there in the first place.
Means sacrificing an attacking midfielder first half but we need to keep things tight. early on against this lot IMO and make them work for everything as there is hopefully a chance of them tiring earlier what with a Thursday game and travel back etc.? Same reason for bringing on Antonio last 30 mins. He wont be 100% but could do a good 30 mins and especially if Dier and co feeling it by then. Fredericks to be replaced by Benrahma at some point too.
All easy this tactics malarky when from the armchair ;-) And probably little chance the following will be adopted by Moyes but just think it might be worth a go to deny them any attempts or as few as possible and exploit their fatigue later in the game.
-------------Fab Coufal Dawson Diop Cresswell Johnson Fredericks Soucek Rice ----- Lingard ----------- ----- Bowen ( Antonio to come on later )
